Who Am I?

Who Am I?
Born in Aurora Nebraska to two loving parents who didn't have as much love for each other as they did for me. I grew up as an only child spitting holidays and homes, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds. I changed schools four times and made a lot of friends in the process. Through all these changes I learned to just go with the flow and see where life takes me and enjoy the ride. So far it has been a good ride.
My grandparents are my constants in my life and I have no idea where I would be without them. They have been there for me through thick and thin. My Grandma is the one I confide most in while my Grandpa is the strong silent type who was always there to be the discipline in my life. He is also very protective of our little family unit. My Grandma is very southern and maternal growing up listening to her talk to me her southern accent was something I will never forget about her.
I live with my mom in Aurora, she works most nights so I spend a lot of time alone at home with my Pomeranian puppy Nugget. I baby him like he was a little kid. With his adorable puppy dog eyes it is impossible not to spoil him. I love to draw and paint or make any type of art with any type of medium. When I get into a project I love to make a mess. I draw inspiration from everything around me. When it comes to my art I am extremely shy about showing it in public unless it is a school project no one really sees my art because a lot of my art is personal. You wouldn’t be able to tell just by looking at it but it is usually my diary put into a visual form.
I spend more time on Pinterest than is probably healthy. I basically have my whole life planned out on my Pinterest boards: my wedding, my future children, all the recipe ideas I would need for the rest of the month, and a full closet of stylish clothes that I will never own. But DIY projects are my favorite because there is a certain amount of pride that comes with something you made with your own hands. That is why I plan to hand make all of my Christmas gifts this year. Speaking of Christmas I am so excited that it is finally that time of year again. Christmas is a time where you get to see family who you haven’t seen in ages and you don't have an agenda or somewhere to be, you get to just sit around and enjoy each others company. Reminiscing on the past is always the best part because there are always stories that you haven’t heard before or forgot about that. Since my parents are divorced I sort of get double the Christmas. I spend Christmas eve with my mom's family and Christmas day with my dad's family I get the whole Christmas day spread of food both days but I am usually so full from my Mom's families cooking that I don't eat anything with my dads family.
One of my goals for my future is to not have my children need to split homes or holidays. I  like to think I am turning out alright but I feel like I have missed out on a lot of opportunities and life lessons because of not living in one place. If I had grown up in one place I would have gone out for sports or got involved in some organization. I feel like this would have completely changed my life. I don’t blame my parents for this because they didn’t know what life had in store for them. But I think they could have made it easier on me over the years. I guess I will just learn from my parents mistakes. That is kind of what life is about, just learning from the generations before us.
I am kind of running out of things to say to fill the word amount necessary for this assignment. So I guess I will just end it with a quote that I live by daily “do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrait the mind on the present moment.” –Buddha. I chose this Quote because I feel like it is something I struggle with. I spend too much time thinking about things that have already passed or haven’t even happened yet. I am constantly making a conscious effort to keep my mind in the present.

  1. Andrea,

I really love that you love Christmas and making your own gifts! I am impressed. I know a few other people are hooked on Pinterest. I have avoided it for a reason!! I love your quote, too! And that SONG! :)

  2. Andrea,

I love how you opened up and told everyone about your childhood, but I also love that you aren't dwelling on it! Also, I think that we both have the same love for Pinterest...it's bad.

  3. Andrea,

Your blog definitely made me smile. I love how everything you wrote had a purpose and you could really tell that what you wrote is exactly how you feel about certain things.

  4. ANDREA!!! Shallow note: Nugget is the cutest name for a Pomeranian! Ah! Adorable!
Deeper: You truly "wrote yourself!" You have such a wonderful, easy-going attitude in everything- that is a GREAT quality!
